Weekly Dose of {B} Informed – 3/24/14

Welcome to Monday morning! Start your day off with a dose of {B} Informed. If you are new here, {B} Informed is a snippet of newsworthy stories from the past week – from a mom’s point of view. Get your current events fix in a tiny portion of your free time and without having to scour the Internet!

№ 1. Missing Bitcoins Found As Mt. Gox Recovers $120 Million from Old Electronic Wallets
This was big news around our house because my husband invests in Bitcoin. Apparently this recovery is only about 1/4 of the original approximate 800,000 (approx $450 million USD at current market value) Bitcoin that was originally lost. I am actually interested to hear the lowdown, so I will be following this story.

№ 2. Hiland Crude Pipeline Spills Oil Near Alexander, ND
Approximately 34,000 gallons of crude oil spilled onto soil. It has been contained and did not contaminate any water supplies. I’m sure it was a nasty mess though!

№ 3. KKK Leader Disputes Hate Group Label: ‘We’re A Christian Organization’
Someone is clearly confused here. Check out the story, let me know your take is!

№ 4. Unique skill set helps save man from death row
Thank God for this priest’s diligence to uncover the truth. Every time I hear a story like this, I physically feel sick. Innocent people have been killed because the justice system is not, nor could ever be perfect. I do not have a clearcut opinion on the death penalty, though simple human error might be my strongest argument against it. What are your thoughts on the death penalty?

№ 5. Google tries to NSA-proof Gmail
I am a Gmail user, and with all the recent NSA hooplah, this story piqued my interest. Top Gmail security engineer Nicolas Lidzborski cited that the recent security changes were in direct response to recent disclosures made by Edward Snowden. Lidzborski ensures that our emails will be safe. Do you use Gmail? What do you think about this extra attention to security?

And now for your….

Med School Student Elizabeth Raine ‘Auctioning’ Her Virginity
She claims that she is not doing it for the money, in fact she claims to be financially secure. “Adventure, eroticism, scandal and challenging norms about virginity also rank on her list.” I wonder if it will seem like such a good idea when she get murdered or contracts an STD. In fact, this little ploy enraged me – and borderlines prostitution. In fact, it is prostitution according to US laws, which is why she is using an Australian agent in order to avoid charges. There is no way that I would ever entrust my medical care to this “med student” without a brain.

I'm a mom that loves blogging.
