We were so excited to meet our little guy! We arrived at Hays Medical Center at 6:00 am. During the long walk to the delivery unit, I started to feel a bit panicky. By the time we were settled in our room and I changed into my super stylish hospital gown, my anxiety was through the roof. I was trying to keep myself calm by staying preoccupied. Jeff unknowingly helped me relieve some tension when he ripped out the backside of his paper scrubs and provided a good laugh 🙂 During our entire stay, my nurses were awesome. They are worth their weight in gold and then some! After several preliminary questions, paperwork and starting my IV, we walked to the operating room. For those of you who have never been inside an operating room – it can invoke some scary emotions. To make matters worse, Jeff had to stay outside while I was prepared for the cesarean. My anesthesiologist was already apprised of my apprehension and she did an excellent job making sure that I was comfortable while they administered my spinal block. I am claustrophobic and everyone was extremely receptive to my needs, they placed the sheet further down my chest than normal and they did not tie my hands. I closed my eyes for the duration of the surgery and prayed that I would remain calm without further medication. Before I knew it, Liam David Baier was delivered at 8:05 am. I heard his sweet cry and was overwhelmed with relief. My anxious feelings disappeared when I got to meet Jeff & Liam in the recovery room for our first hour of bonding with our new baby boy. God is great and He has certainly blessed our family with our new addition!
